Eventgoers to Meet Differently following new event guidelines
Sarawak event management company & professional conference organiser Place Borneo recently launched the ‘Meet Differently’ campaign to bring forth new meeting ideas for the business events industry in line with the government’s latest SOP and guidelines for events and gatherings.
In Place Borneo’s Meet Differently campaign, 6 key ideas were introduced – Meet Outside the Box, Three’s a Crowd, Nature Calls, Go Virtual or Go Home, Be Picky, You Deserve It and Drink Responsibly. “The new campaign serves to inform our existing and future customers that we are ready to serve with exciting new ways of organising events along with maintaining health and safety of all parties involved by having strict government approved SOPs at all events,” said Mona Abdul Manap, CEO of Place Borneo Sdn Bhd.
“Among the new ideas in this campaign set to change the business event trends in Sarawak and beyond are choosing exclusive venue buy outs or remote locations in nature, re-engineering of meeting formats, increasing virtual elements, creating exclusively virtual events and more,” she added.
“Our government sees Business Events as an integral growth to our tourism development in Sarawak. It is important for industry players to play a proactive role to develop and attract events and conferences to Sarawak. Coming up with unique new ideas such as Meet Differently will set the benchmark and differentiate us from other states and even countries,” said YB Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Minister of Youth and Sports Sarawak, commenting on the campaign.
According to Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani Bin Daud, CEO of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bereau during a recent online webinar, MyCEB will offer support for events as small as 20 pax in a bid to help companies rebuild the events industry. He added that MyCEB recovery aids are available to help the industry survive as the economic impact of the pandemic is spread out over the whole supply chain, from event venues, hotels, event organisers, restaurants and more, and that a holistic approach is needed to boost the industry.
BESarawak’s Tribal Gathering 2020 last week saw a physical gathering of less than 250 pax in accordance with the new government guidelines whilst the rest of the attendees tuned in virtually from all over the region and overseas. “Tribal Gathering 2020 is the first hybrid event of its kind in Sarawak and serves as a platform to share BESarawak’s Strategic & Tactical Plans of 2020 with a set of initiatives launched to announce that the state is now ready to open for business events,” said BESarawak Acting CEO Amelia Roziman.
