KUCHING: The My Beautiful Garden online competition, recently launched under gardening and farming expo Gardenscapes Sarawak 2021, aims to encourage and challenge plant enthusiasts to grow their own gardens creatively as a healthy hobby at home.

“As people are staying at home more in the new normal and taking up gardening as a healthy activity, the competition is an opportunity to showcase pictures of their garden blooms and produce and win prizes for their efforts,” said Gracie Geikie, Director of Place Borneo, organiser of Gardenscapes Sarawak.

Open to all Kuchingnites, the My Beautiful Garden competition takes place on Facebook where interested participants are invited to share pictures or videos of themselves in their garden and tag Gardenscapes Sarawak’s official Facebook page as well as using the hashtag #MYBEAUTIFULGARDENKCH and #GS2021. Shortlisted participants will be selected based on the criteria of aesthetics, visual harmony, plant wellness, creativity and sustainability.

The main event, Gardenscapes Sarawak, will be taking place from 26-28 February 2021 at CityONE Megamall. The 3-day expo will be the first of its kind gardening and farming expo where professional gardening and farming experts, entrepreneurs and gardening enthusiasts can come together to gain information, tools and products to enhance their gardening experience or even start a business enterprise. Gardenscapes Sarawak features product demonstration and promotion, educational talks and workshops on topics such as waste composting, hydroponic tips, fertigation planting, medicinal plants, bonsai cultivation and more. The free event also features lucky draw prizes for the public as well as a specially curated farmer’s marketplace to satisfy a plant enthusiast’s green thumb needs.

The grand prize winner of the My Beautiful Garden competition will receive RM1,000.00 cash and a set of gardening tools which will be announced during the event next year. Closing date for submission of photos and videos is on 30^th December 2020.
